Dr. Shelley Adams

Dr. Shelley Adams began her study of the human body and health science in 1995 at McMaster University while completing a degree in Kinesiology. She continued on to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated in 2003.

In 2004, Dr. Adams joined Back2Health and in Spring of 2008 was voted #2 BEST CHIROPRACTOR in the STARS OF VANCOUVER, by her patients.

At 16 she broke her ankle figure skating. When traditional medicine didn't satisfy her needs, she sought the care of a chiropractor and realized chiropractic's role in both health and sport performance. She feels very strongly that patients have an active role in their own care.

After each initial exam - patients are given their own program of stretching and strengthening to promote faster recovery and maintenance of a good state of health.

As a former Ontario figure skating champion, level 3 coach of 11 years, and varsity cross country runner, she poses a keen interest in psychology, nutrition, performance enhancing treatments and athletic injuries. She enjoys working with athletes of all calibers and has a special affinity for runners and triathletes.  If she hasn't had the injury herself - she has seen it and treated it on a number of occasions.  From first time runners to Ironman competitors she has worked with them all and helped them to achieve their goals.  You will often find her on the sidelines cheering patients on.

Dr. Adams is an engaging public speaker and is the creator of an off-ice seminar "The Edge" for up and coming figure skaters. As a running enthusiast she frequently speaks to running groups on injury prevention and the importance to stretching and strengthening in any athletic program.

As a way to give back, to create awareness of chiropractic's role in the prevention of arthritis and to help support programs for those living with arthritis, Dr. Adams joined the "Joints in Motion Team" of BC and Yukon and represented Canada in the 2005 Honolulu  and 2006 Amsterdam Marathons.  With the support of many generous patients and community members she has now raised over $13,000 for this worthy cause.

Dr. Adams believes in educating patients with regard to their condition and encourages them to take a pro-active role in their own health in order to add life to their years and years to their life.

After getting married in July of 2006 - she and her husband Blaine welcomed their first child "Caiden" in July 2007 and "Caleb" in 2009.  She has always known of chiropractic's role with pregnant women and children but has a much clearer understanding of it's power, after being through pregnancy twice herself.
